Dear Enfield Street School
Families,
The entire ESS staff
welcomes you and your child to the new K-2 Enfield
Street School learning community! The custodial,
office, and teaching staffs have been busy during the
summer months preparing for September 6 when we’ll open
our doors for the first time to our new family of
learners.
In an effort to make your child’s transition to school
as seamless as possible – and to maximize safety
measures – I’ve listed below some information for you to
review. Please feel free to call me at (860) 253-6563
if you have any questions or concerns.
School hours for K-2 buildings:
Grades 1-2: 8:55 a.m. -3:21 p.m.
Kindergarten hours: AM session 8:55 a.m.-11:45 am
PM session 12:30 p.m. -3:21pm
There is no supervision until 8:40 a.m. (or 12:20
p.m. for afternoon Kindergarten). Please do not drop
children off earlier than that time.
A label with your child’s name, school, classroom
teacher, and room number is enclosed. Please be sure to
affix the label onto your child’s shirt on the first day
of school. Your child’s teacher will send home
additional labels in your child’s ‘Home/School
Communication Folder’ on the first day of school.
Please be sure your child wears a label each day during
the first week of school. This will assist staff
members as we help children find their way to their new
classrooms. The labels will also ensure that ESS bus
students will remain on the bus in the morning until
they reach Enfield Street School.
Please complete and return the
Dismissal Information Sheet on the first day of
school. If, at any time, you need to change the way
your child will be dismissed, please be sure to submit
those changes in writing. The more information we have
about pick-up, the easier it will be for us to maintain
safety measures for all of our children.
Bus routes are posted on the district website (www.enfieldschools.org).
They will also be published in the Enfield Press and the
Thrifty Reminder.
The size and layout of the ESS parking lot presents all
of us with a challenge. I’m sure each of us is
concerned with maintaining a safe and orderly
environment both inside of the school building, and in
the parking lot. We’ll have approximately 300 K-2
students coming and going every day. We’re going to
need the cooperation of every adult to ensure the safety
of each of our children. Please read and adhere to the
parking guidelines. We all
need to work together to keep our children safe!
If you would like to
visit the school with your child before September 6, you
are more than welcome. Teachers will be busy setting up
their classrooms and attending professional development
meetings during the week of August 29. Please call my
office at 860 253 6563 to schedule a time to visit the
school.
REMINDER:
KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY,
AUGUST 25 IN THE CAFETERIA .
AM kindergartners and their parents: 9:30-10:30
PM kindergartners and their parents: 11:00-12:00
I am looking forward to working with you and your child
during the coming school year!
Sincerely,
Deborah Berger
